The children really enjoy the taste and consistency of the drink. We find it outsells every other drink on offer, including cartons of orange juice and bottled water.

Gloria is quick to praise the contribution of the canteen staff in keeping
up with the demand for the drink. As well as fully utilising both machines, staff plan ahead to cope with the high demand. Each afternoon, they prepare cups of drink and store them overnight in an upright freezer.
The next day, an hour before the children arrive for breaks and lunch, they are removed from the freezer and are then ready for when the children arrive in numbers. As one of the staff commented, “ we always
try to plan ahead, that way we satisfy the children’s demands whilst managing our workloads.”

Selling the Frutina Juice drink has resulted in a number of benefits for the school. Not only does it mean they sell a drink which meets the new guidelines but it is one that is also clearly enjoyed by many of the pupils. And whilst its not the main reason for selling the drink in school, Gloria does acknowledge the contribution Frutina makes in terms of what they add financially to the school.

We are more than satisfied with the Juice drink and the support and service we get from Frutina. It certainly works for us.

Throne Rd, West Midlands

St. Michaels C of E School in the West Midlands was established in 1973. The school has approximately 1000 pupils, with an age range of 11-16 year olds made up
from the local community.

The school now runs its own catering operation
“in house.” This ensures that only fresh produce and natural ingredients are used where possible.

The catering staff work hard on a ‘back to basics’
approach to nutrition and aim to work within the government guidelines. This approach also applies to beverages, which is why earlier in 2006 the school introduced Frutina 99% Juice Drink. This beverage has proved to be a resounding success, both with students
and the staff alike.

According to the School Bursar, Gloria Thorp, between 400-450 children regularly take school meals and of
these between 150-200 buy a Frutina Juice drink everyday.
